Overseas Pakistanis Consortium announce Rs500m fund

The Overseas Pakistanis’ Consortium (OPC) has announced a Rs 500 million endowment fund for Pakistan to help the country achieve eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to the details issued by the OPC, the endowment fund was made to improve the living standards of people by promoting economic stimulus, poverty alleviation and mass collaboration in education and socio-economic development initiatives.

The eight MDGs that it targets are eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, ensuring environmental sustainability and creating a global partnership for development.

About 450 overseas Pakistanis around the world are ready to invest in viable private sector projects in micro financing, financial markets, infrastructure, health, education and agribusiness. The News
