Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission in Punjab is another revolutionary step of the Punjab government.
He said Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab would play an important role in resolving the problems of the overseas Pakistanis. He said the government had given a constitutional cover to the Commission and it would be extended all-out support by the Punjab government and he would personally monitor the Commission.
Addressing the first meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, here Tuesday, the chief minister said the overseas Pakistanis were the ambassadors of the country and Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab had been set up for resolving their problems. He said the Commission had been empowered to immediately redress the complaints of the Pakistanis living in the Middle East, Europe, America and other countries. He said the Commission would take effective steps for addressing the complaints of overseas Pakistanis. He directed that commission should work with national spirit and spare no effort for resolving the problems of Pakistanis living abroad. He said that committees would be set up at every district while advisory councils comprising overseas Pakistanis would also be constituted. He said the persons having good repute should be included in the district committees. He said overseas Pakistanis could also get their complaints registered online and he would personally monitor the efficiency of the Commission and the steps taken to resolve their problems. He said immediate action would be taken on the complaints of the overseas Pakistanis.
The chief minister congratulated Vice-Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti on assuming their offices. Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Afzaal Bhatti assured the chief minister that Commission would work in accordance with his vision and try to come up to his expectations.
Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din, Vice-Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Shaheen Khalid Butt, MPAs Mian Tariq, Manshaullah Butt, Rana Liaqat Ali, additional chief secretary, inspector general police, senior member Board of Revenue, chairman Planning and Development, secretaries and senior officials concerned attended the meeting. Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzaal Bhatti gave a detailed briefing on the aims and objectives of the Commission.
Consensus: Shahbaz Sharif has said that national consensus on tackling effectively terrorism is a good omen and that Pakistan is in a state of war and the existing situation demands extraordinary measures.
He said Pakistan could be made a strong and prosperous country only through eradication of terrorism and that every member of society would have to play an active role for rooting out the menace of terrorism as the wars were won with national unity and support of the masses.
Talking to assembly members of various districts who called on him, here Tuesday, The chief minister said elimination of terrorism was essential for survival, stability and progress of the country besides ensuring a safe future for the coming generations.
amendment: Shahbaz Sharif has said that National Assembly has performed a great national obligation by unanimously approving 21st Constitutional amendment.
He said parliamentarians had proved that they were fully aware of people’s problems and the critical nature of situation. He said extraordinary measures were needed in extraordinary situation. He said national leadership had given the message of exemplary unity and consensus in the war against terror.
