Conservation of Walled City Lahore

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has barred business activities in illegal plazas located in the Walled City of Lahore. The authority has planned to launch an awareness campaign through which warnings will be given to stop business activities in illegal buildings.

The WCLA has also planned to raze buildings which have been built without building plan approvals. Moreover, the WCLA has submitted cases of more than 100 illegal structures in the Judicial Magistrate Court.

Experts from the Institute of Architects of Pakistan visited the Walled City of Lahore on Sunday, June 23, 2014 and gave recommendations to improve and restore the historic area.

Around 70 architects visited 10 streets of the old city and reviewed the ongoing restoration work. Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) Deputy Director Ms Tania Qureshi also briefed the experts about various restoration projects being undertaken by WCLA.
