State Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman informed the House on Tuesday that there was no delay in the processing of the applications for National Identity Card Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) in the Consulates at United Kingdom.
Speaking over a calling attention notice moved by Farhana Qamar regarding delay in processing of the applications for NICOP particularly their renewal by NADRA offices in the United Kingdom, the minister said all the applications were being processed in time.
“There was a delay some seven month ago, however, the government took prompt notice and the problem was resolved,” he informed.
Baligh-ur-Rehman further said, during the current month, as many as 136,638 applications were processed.
He said the government was seriously working to improve efficiency of the institutions and their functioning was also being monitored strictly.
“Three NADRA officials are working at Birmingham office, one at Bradford, four at Manchester while at Glasgow, mobile van service has been initiated to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis,” the minister added.
