Polio certificate must for travel from Pakistan

All travelers from Pakistan will be required to produce a valid polio vaccination certificate from June 1, a joint statement from Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Tuesday.
The WHO, other health development organisations and polio eradication partners will continue to provide technical support to Pakistan in this regard, the statement added.
Provinces are also taking action under the coordination of the ministry and the preparations for full implementation are expected to complete within next two weeks, it said.
The statement said Pakistan has taken its responsibilities seriously as a signatory to the International Health Regulations, 2005 (IHR) and is fully committed to their implementation in letter and spirit. The implementation process has been initiated and health facilities across Pakistan are now vaccinating prospective travellers and issuing the required vaccination certificate. It said that the provincial governments would take initiatives to facilitate the implementation of efforts in compliance with the IHR recommendations.
The statement said federal and provincial governments are collaborating closely with the WHO, UNICEF and health development partners to mobilise available resources and ensure availability of vaccine, vaccination certificates and the human resources. A template for the required vaccination certificate has been prepared in compliance with IHR Annex VII. Until printing of the template, the certificate can be issued on a plain paper with stamps from health officials. The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination has taken measures to implement the World Health Organisation temporary recommendations due to spread of polio virus in the country, the statement said.
