LAHORE: The excise department will spend about a billion rupees on Punjab Urban Immovable Property Tax (PUIPT) Survey 2013 from July 1.
Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is all set to launch PUIPT Survey 2013 at an estimated cost of 910 million rupees from July 1, 2013 with the help of its own staff besides technical assistance form the Urban Unit, another government organ.
Director General E&T Humayun Mazhar said the government had decided to conduct the survey after 12 years since the last survey was held in 2001, adding that many new properties had surfaced during this period.
The DG said the E&T department wanted to conduct a door-to-door survey of properties in 500 circles with the help of 750 property inspectors in all districts with special focus on five major districts.
Humayun Mazhar said that inspectors would not be alone this time but everyone would be monitored by one representative of the Urban Unit who would take a picture of the property on the laptop and log the data using software developed for this purpose.
About the integrity of the officials, he said he could not speak about anyone with certainty but the department was forced to choose amongst the available staff.
He said the survey 2013 would help generate more revenue. app
